We have high standards for what we put on our customers’ plates. Thankfully, we have an excellent team of trusted suppliers eager to work with us to achieve them.
Some of our standards are about what shouldn’t be in our dishes – like MSG, hydrogenated vegetable oils, or trans fats – and some of these are about what should be in them – such as free-range eggs, certified sustainable fish, and GM foods.
We ask our suppliers to use the barest minimum of additives and to use only certified sustainable palm oil. And if our livestock suppliers use feed with soy in it, we ask them to choose a certified sustainable source.

We insist on Deforestation and Conversion Free (DCF) beef and choose not to buy beef from Brazil; 100% of our beef comes from British and Irish suppliers. Our Lounge beef burgers, for instance, are from Dovecote Park in North Yorkshire, which sources its beef from British farms and maintains the highest standards of animal welfare and husbandry. Like us, they’re aiming to become a net-zero business.
We are committed to improving chicken welfare standards and using free-range shell eggs. We are a founding member of the Sustainable Chicken Forum.

We expect all our suppliers to behave ethically and sustainably, and we use external standards and certifications to check this. 97% of our food and drink suppliers are members of SEDEX – a system which provides greater transparency about the ethical standards of every link in our supply chain.
